Spending the day in Málaga.

Last Friday, our Interior students toured the centre of Málaga, discovering some of the less well-known historical buildings.

The first stop was the Sala María Cristina, a listed building with roots in the 15th-century Convent of San Luis El Real.

The visit continued with another place unknown to many, and the students were surprised to discover a small abandoned temple almost 200 years old surrounded by cars. Our tutor, Oscar Hilillo, explained which interior elements were used at the time of construction: cement tiles, wooden ceilings, mural paintings, cast iron columns, etc., showing old catalogues of decorative materials.

Enjoying a warm autumn day in the old town, the students were also taught how to distinguish buildings by deciphering their facades, which give clues to determine in which century they were built.

And to finish off the tour with a more contemporary feel, the students visited Cosentino City Malaga, leaders in sustainable design surfaces for architecture and the home.
