Graphic Design & Media
Course Overview
MOD 1 – Fundamentals of Design
Learn the language of visual communication and the foundations of great design.
This module introduces you to the fundamental principles and the historical evolution of visual communication. You’ll experiment with the building blocks of design — point, line, plane, texture, colour, and type — and learn to combine them using principles like scale, contrast, balance, rhythm, movement, repetition, and modularity.
Through observation, research, and experimentation, you’ll discover the formal, conceptual, and historical traits that define some of the most influential art and design movements, building a visual vocabulary you’ll use throughout your career.
MOD 2 – Design Applications
Learn to create expressive, meaningful, and persuasive visual narratives.
You’ll explore the principles of design semiotics and use devices like metaphor, juxtaposition, irony, allegory, and hyperbole to engage specific audiences through targeted storytelling.
You’ll apply these principles to a variety of contexts, such as:
Brand identity and communication systems
Editorial and publishing design
Entertainment and promotional campaigns
Through research, user testing, and iteration, you’ll learn to craft visual messages that inform, persuade, educate, and inspire. At the same time, you’ll strengthen your skills with industry-standard digital design applications.
This course will help you think visually, design purposefully, and express your ideas with clarity and confidence. Start building the mindset and portfolio of a future graphic designer.
