"Attending the Marbella Design Academy was a memorable experience for me. It was a good learning environment in a very sociable atmosphere. I believe the academy was a good step in my career as now I am working with an architectural company in Spain after graduating."

The 1st year of study at the Interior Design Course.
The 3 years Interior Designer Course at the Marbella Design Academy, is goal orientated from the very 1st day of study.
The interior Design Course at the Marbella Design Academy is different from similar programmes offered at other educational institutions. At the Marbella Design Academy we value our goal to educate students to become professional Interior Designers, not only to a high level in all the required subjects, but also to a high level of competence utilising the professional computer programs used in the industry. The Interior Design Students at the Marbella Design Academy are therefore taught these programs during the first year of study. When the students enter into the 2nd and 3rd years, they can therefore practice the use of the programs and solve their given projects at a high academic and professional level.
The 1st year of the 3 year course in Interior Design, at the Marbella Design Academy, is therefore not a foundation course, but part of the 3 year education to become a professional Interior Designer, graduating from the Marbella Design Academy.
The 1st year of study develops students, even without previous experience, to a medium level in the subjects taught.
Please see the 1st year Study Plan.
The first year enables the students to experience and develop their own unique vision and teaches them how to implement their concepts through a diverse creative process. The students will be taught how to explore independently and examine the fundamental principles of communication of design, encouraging self-motivation and challenging aims and objectives of initiated work.
The students will complete the academic year with a good basic understanding of the fundamentals of Interior Design, technical drawing skills as well as a medium level in Auto Cad, 3D Max, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Several projects will have been undertaken and presented professionally - a good foundation for entering into the 2nd year, where the theoretical and technical skills as well as computer skills are further developed.
Please see the 2nd and 3rd year Study Plan.
The first year has been prepared to provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of all aspects of: The design process, technical drawing and the computer Skills. To achieve this, the course content encourages students to acquire a comprehensive means of expressing their ideas. Course work takes the form of design projects, which require students to research, organize, sketch, prepare professional drawings and then present their projects in a professional way to a deadline. Presentations are held in front of teachers and fellow students and discussed.
Projects are in structured stages, introducing each of the basic skills and knowledge necessary in all fields of Design.
Presentation - Students are guided towards a systematic way of presenting finished work to clients. This includes the understanding and use of equipment and facilities, which can be of help in preparing finished work. Included are: Internet research, libraries, photography, photocopiers, types of paper and presentation folders. Students are also required to present finished projects in a way which reflects different designer/client situations.
Computer programs taught in the first year are: Auto CAD, 3D MAX, Photoshop and Illustrator. Students are taught these programs to a medium or high level during the first year of study.
