Lise Desebordes

Graduated Interior Architect at the Marbella Design Academy

Create emotions, see past a function, an aesthetic, a meaning of space, an object, is my MOTO… MAKE A DIFERRENCE... this is: my philosophy.

My name is Lise Desebordes; I was born in France in 1982 in the countryside in a small town called Poitiers. As I grew up I became more and more aware of my surroundings. Also I realised that I really didn’t want to spend my life behind a desk. What else could I do in such an administrative world where the only thing I enjoyed was to recreate and rethink every single thing which caught my eyes? I kept drawing and drawing and drawing... everything! shapes, outfits, furniture, layouts, spaces etc… etc...

I have a diploma in French Literature and then got a degree in International Trade and Marketing and graduated in June 2007 and received a diploma of Interior Architecture from The Marbella Design Academy. I have learnt how to apply all this knowledge to my creative design process and the way I approach my clients today.

Like in Marketing and advertising where you create a profile of your client, I draw a portrait of him/her/them to capture their emotions. Because at the end of the day the money is not the only reward you get by creating something but the emotions it brings to the people you have been creating for.

I have the passion and the lets say the guts for design All I was missing was the technical skills to apply my design style to the real world. And then... I found the Marbella Design Academy. What a great experience! You get trained by skilled and professional teachers who share with you their vision; and help you to achieve yours. You get surrounded by students and young designers from all over the world which helps you to learn to accept a different opinion and approach DESIGN differently..
With my school projects I always aspired to make a difference: From a water residence to sort out the worlds overcrowding problem in cities like New-York, Amsterdam and London. From a surrealistic Island Resort, to a theatrically themed Airport Lounge where water flows over walls and ceilings …DESIGN HAS NO LIMITS, just like my projects!

The 2nd years of my study I decided to open my own company: "FRENCH BY DESIGN" www.frenchbydesign.net . In the past I worked for as an Interior Architect which gave me experience creating unusual modern but fuctional furniture and knowledge of the market. After this I was ready for my own company.
FRENCH BY DESIGN has been opened for 2 years now and I am doing great…

Most of my clients wants to make a big statement with their interior design and ask for unusual custom made furniture and theatrical stage layouts, etc. I travel a lot to find the latest materials and do a lot of research to keep updated with what’s going on in the market, with lighting, new technologies, new methods of construction, ecological thinking...
The money is amazing and I have to admit that at 25 years old I would have never imagined doing that well. But the best reward is again the emotions you enhance in the one you have been working for.

I am currently working on a James Bond concept restaurant in Puerto Banus which will eventually become a chain, I have been asked to custom theme design everything plates, staff uniforms, menus the lot! I am also designing a hairdressers salon and villas and apartment along the Costa del Sol, and I have recently been asked to work on large scale projects abroad...

Ingrid Stenvall

Here is my story.  After leaving Marbella Design Academy I went back to work with working for the same Interior Design Company as I was working for before I went to study in Marbella.  I was designing night club on the side after work and I was very much in demand.  I woke up one day and resigned from the company I worked for to start my own company.  I borrowed some money and opened a bank account.
Soon after I was designing the biggest and the best Hookah restaurant and night club in Baltimore.  Now it is a huge success and there has been many great reviews on the place and the stle of design.

I later went to many events for interior designers here in DC and met many
TV and film and theatrical producers which les to designing staging for houses about to go on the market. It was amazing! I would make $600 a day organizing and renting furniture.  In March I worked 7 days and made $4200.00 part time. Now I am very well known in DC and Maryland for my work.  I specialize in Modern/ contemporary furniture and I have a very original style.

Later I wanted to do something more then just interior design so I decided to go on job interviews just for fun.  I landed a great job with a media training company in DC.  They sent me to conventions and business trips to Mexico, New York, and Las Vegas.  I worked here full time and do my interior design on the weekends and the evenings. I love my job and still have the oportunity to be creative with interior design. I turned my dreams into reality!

The education that I was given at the Marbella Design Academy really gave me the
skills that I needed to be successful at the cutting edges of interior design."

Beatrice Celestin

"Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated."

by Paul Rand

I'm Beatrice Celestin, but as the years are passing by people will know me more and more by the name of twixC (pronounced twixy). Let me start by telling you a short version of how twixC became my name. When I was a teenager around the age of 14, a friend of mine (Nancy F.) started calling me Twix. The reason was simple. Everyone called me Béa or Bébé. I was not too fond of Bébé and I simply did not mind Béa. Nancy decided that I needed an original name, therefore she dropped the first part of my name and played with the end of my name "trice". From playing with trice, she ended up calling me like one of my favorite chocolate TWIX.
During the years to come, close friends and family called me Twix, my cousin called me Trix (like the cereal) and some other friends call me Twixy. And as I started drawing and designing, I would always sign it "Twix". I got attached to Twix which became my artist name. As i was becoming a graphic Designer, thinking about my identity in the design world and also branding, I figured Twix would not be appropriate for me because it is already the brand of a chocolate. Therefore I decided to go for Twixy written "twixC", "C" standing for my last name "Celestin". And to add a twist to it, the "t" is in small caps to be give it a more friendly appeal and the C in big caps to emphasize on an exclamation and to play with the contrast of a normal way of writing a name with the big cap at the beginning.

I was born and raised in Haiti. I attended a French system school in which I graduated in 1999 the class of Philosophy with a Baccalaureat ES (Economics). My primary choice of study was Interior Design, however the college that I was attending in Boston didn't have the interior design course and instead of looking for another school to do it, I decided to go for the program in Graphic Design and Visual Communications. I loved it but for some unfortunate reasons, I had to drop out and go back home to work. I spent 3 years in Haiti, assistant Graphic Designers in their tasks and focusing on going back to school to finish my degree. Finally in September 2005, I attended the Marbella Design Academy to finish my studies in Graphic Design. It was an experience that I will never forget from the friends from all over the globe, to the teachers etc...

I fell in love with Graphic Design. I'm very abstract of an artist and designer... I love to play with shapes (specially organic ones). I have a deep fondness for Branding and identity studies.
Now, I live in New York City, the city that never sleeps and where Graphic Design is just IN YOUR FACE. I'm in the city of my TWO all-time favorite Graphic Designers: Milton Glaser & Paul Rand. The challenge that I face in New York City mostly is the very FAST pace of the life over there. Everything is at 500 miles/hour and if you can't keep up, You will remain at the bottom of the pit... But like the New Yorkers will tell you "If you can make it in N.Y, You can make it everywhere" which I think is so true and it's a challenge I am willing to take. I have always had a discipline in my line of Work and New York is getting me even more disciplined to keep myself at the level to be seen. I have launch my website www.twixCism.com and started building my brand identity to the world. I have clients for which I work in Madrid, Dominican Republic, France, Haiti and I'm building my Network here in N.Y... I am looking forwards to start my own official business in Fall 2008.

THEREFORE, let me re-introduce myself, I'm twixC, a passionate Graphic Designer and Artist.
So, what is the twixCism?
twixCism is simply my point of view in the design world. twixCism is a design concept movement by twixC.
twixCism is in process mode to become a brand to be born in NYC.
twixCism will cover all works done by twixC: Graphic Design, Photography, Paintings, Essays, Poetry, Illustrations, Graphics on Clothing, Graphics in motion and awareness campaigns etc...
In the Graphic Design world, my particular favorite branch is Branding, specially in the Fashion, Entertainment, music and cultural industries which are the directions where I am pushing twixCism.
