Fashion design is the application of art and aesthetics to clothing and accessories. Fashion is big business, and if you want to help shape the trends of the future, and feel passionate about expressing art via the clothes you wear, then fashion design is for you.
Graduated fashion designers from Marbella Design Academy either follow their dreams to create their own brand, or choose employment by one of the many established fashion houses locally or globally.
Spain is a mecca for fashion design, and who does not know the Zara fashion empire with hundreds of shops worldwide. The owner Amancio Ortega is the richest man in Spain today.
In the province of Malaga alone, we have many respected fashions designers who export their designs around the World. To mention a few: Su-Shi handbags, Dolfie shoes, Mayoral and Charanga Childrens wear, PepaLoves, Oltimara ladies fashion, Anastasia Benitez shawls and cardigans and Gisela underwear and swimwear.
Study Fashion Design at Marbella Design Academy and you study in a hub of internationally acclaimed fashion designers.
The Fashion Design education offered to students at Marbella Design Academy is designed to accomplish high academic standards in an exciting exploration into the most contemporary techniques and processes.
The presence of creative design is a visible and prominent feature of all arte facts and products encountered in our daily lives. To supply graduates with the necessary resources to allow them to excel as professionals in the ever-evolving Fashion Design industry, the programme proposes a progressive and stimulating curricula to motivate their enthusiasm, and offer strong groundwork to face the challenges of the marketplace.
Our main aim is to equip students with the necessary skills and understanding in design and technology, in order to explore and apply bold creativity to the expression of ideas and in the resolution of conceptual or constructional problems.
The Fashion Course employs a creative and wide-ranging collection of current techniques in use in the professional world of fashion design. These include 'toile' or sample making, haute couture and production sewing techniques, range research and design methods, print and pattern creation.
Life and fashion drawing as well as CAD for illustration are mastered to command the technical construction skills needed for pattern cutting and block drafting. This will allow students to develop complex and avant-garde design in clothing and encourage the exploration and understanding of technical concepts in construction by way of pattern cutting and 'modeling on the stand'.
The student's intellectual competence and ability will be developed in order to confront the challenges of a highly competitive fashion environment, allowing them not only to select appropriate techniques in order to realize their concept, but also to discuss and debate the important ethical and economic issues that affect the industry today.
