Visa Info

Dear New International Student (NON-European only.)

To enter Spain you need a student visa. This you will get by contacting the nearest Spanish embassy or consulate from your hometown. As soon as you have paid your tuition fee and are a registered student, we then recommend you call the embassy or consulate to arrange a time and date for you to visit them.

To obtain your student visa you need to bring: (make 3 photo copies of everything)

Copy of your passport
3 pass photos
A confirming letter from the Academy that you have been accepted as a Guest student (6 months) or a full academic year student (10,5 months). The letter will be sent to you as a scanned in original document via email.
A test from your doctor that you are in good health, Etc
A medical insurance (Do you not have any then we can recommend Sanitas) E-mail: cristinalopez@agenteseguros.info (best to contact Sanitas via e-mail) Tel.: Cristina +34 619 083 038 or Viviana 645 188 406 - Fax: +34 952 900 370 They have a special offer for students coming from Marbella Design Academy.
A document from a bank in: Monda or Marbella proving that you have a bank account here. The Bank UNICAJA can help you. They have a branch both in Monda and in Marbella: To open a bank account: The following have to be send by fax or email (the documents have to be scanned in and send as an attachment: your name, address at home, name of your father and Mother, copy of your passport, name of the Bank, from where you will transfer funds to your new account and the accepting letter from the Marbella Design Academy. When the bank has received this they will respond to you within few days. Unicaja - Marbella: Fax +34 952 82 89 69 – Phone +45 952 77 34 50 Ask for Adrian, he speaks English. Email asanchezb@unicaja.es
The Consulate also requires a paid reservation at a hostel for the first week. Please call and reserve a room in advance in one of the hostels in Marbella from the list send to you. You can pay for 1 week by Credit Card. The Hostel will then send you a receipt by fax or email. This receipt you will have to show and give them in copy at the Spanish Consulate.

There are no Hostels in Monda, but lots of furnished houses and apartments for rent. It is better you rent a Hostel in Marbella for the first week only, as you will quickly find the house or apartment of your choice in Monda. We recommend all students to live in Monda, only 3 to 5min walking distance from the Academy.

The first week, the academy will have a bus collecting the students in Marbella for bringing them back in the afternoon. The bus will first leave the Academy at 18.00pm. This arrangement is made for the students to have time from 16.00 to 18.00 to look at houses-apartments in Monda. Already after the first 3 days the students normally have found a place to live in Monda.

With this you will get your resident student visa.
It sounds more complicated than it is!

Take care that you contact the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your hometown in time. It is a good idea to give the Embassy or Consulate a call to ensure that you have everything needed with you when you visit them and please call them for a visit as soon as you have paid your tuition fee. The embassy or consulate will give you a 3 months visa.
(Take care a D is written in it. It is very important. Stands for student).
With this you will enter Spain and within your first month at the Academy you will have to go together with the other new international students, to the local police station in Malaga (Lorena, the secretary of the academy will guide you upon arrival).

If you need any further help, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy. Your teachers and I are looking forward to welcome you to the Academy.

Yours Sincerely
Helle Byrn, Director
